If you would like shopping to be a part of your holiday experience then staying here at the Boars Head could be for you.
Our location close to the Lancashire border means that we are only a short distance from the East Lancashire mill towns. These are renowned for their excellent shopping outlets where designer products can be bought at bargain prices. In contrast, we also have a local cultural heritage of arts and crafts with many outlets and workshops situated across the Dales and the Ribble Valley. The Dales are also famous for Wensleydale Cheese; the creamery at Hawes is a must if you want to take home some of Wallace and Gromit’s favourite cheese.
At The Boars Head we offer the best of both worlds – the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire’s Forest of Bowland.
We are situated close to the edge of the glorious Forest Of Bowland, which offers a wide range of unspoilt landscapes and visitor facilities. Try the Crook O Lune or Gisburn Forest for a family bike ride or visit the Bowland Visitor Centre at Beacon Fell and explore its nature trails and the surrounding landscape. Take in Bowland’s village cafes and farm shops, its countryside sites and wildlife, or the wide-open fells and footpaths… on bike, by foot or horse. Visit www.forestofbowland.com and www.ribblevalley.gov.uk for lots of ideas for enjoyable days. Farmers’ markets in the area have become very popular where you can buy locally made and home grown produce.
Skipton Farmer’s Market is on the first Sunday of the month. Settle Farmer’s Market is on the second Sunday of the month. Grassington Farmer’s Market is on the third Sunday of the month www.farmersmarkets.net

Everything from the the first moment of entering The Boars Head could not have been better.
The welcome from the staff was warm & genuine….some really excellent ales on tap served by excellent bar staff.
The food was a credit to the chefs, well prepared, very well cooked & presented, with good portions of everything whether it was the evening meals or the breakfasts.
no hesitation in recommending a stay here, I will be visiting again in the not too distant future.
Thank You to ALL the staff for the service & attention to detail.

“My wife and I stopped there for a bar meal on Saturday 3/8/13 and were very pleased with the range
of beers available even though i could only have one as i was driving.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and they combined the Mushroom stronganof and a steak for me.
The steak was very tender and the best steak I have ever had,
my wife had the small fish and chips and said it was the best fish she had ever had.
To just find this place by chance, we were so lucky and will definitely be back.”
Wanted somewhere as a base for walking in the Dales, Great walks from the door.
